QP Moto2: Lowes leads the way at Jerez

Great pace on track during the Moto2 qualifying session as riders battled it out for pole position. The best time was set by Brit Sam Lowes, extremely fast here at Jerez, who got the best of German Folger, he too very consistent. Third for Sandro Cortese, with Texas race-winner Alex Rins slightly further back. Morbidelli and Baldassari will line up on row two, and the world champ in sixteenth.

As well as striving to set the fastest time, riders also worked in preparation for the race, perfecting settings and pace.

For poleman Lowes, this is his fifth such result; the team Gresini rider will set out to win the race tomorrow, a result that he well deserves, but first he will have to deal with the two Germans who join him on the front row.

Luca Marini, Valentino Rossi's brother, will start eleventh.

In terms of race pace, the first ten are all in with a short, including the Italians who will put up a good fight over race distance.

Dunlop hasn't had any particular problems with the tyres supplied to the riders, so we can expect a close-knit group to battle it out from start to finish, in true Moto2 style.
