SBK, Sykes: “Surprised to be the quickest”

Rea: “Close to Tom with no trouble”

Sykes: “Surprised to be the quickest”

They literally dominated the (sunny) Friday at Donington and also know how to improve for Superpole and the races: Tom Sykes e Johnny Rea have come to the track more motivated than ever and the bike too, the winning Ninja Kawasaki ZX10R, appears stronger than it was at the start of the season.

The day's leader was Tom Sykes, the Huddersfield rider and 2013 world champ, set the fastest lap times in both the morning and the afternoon, putting a small stamp on a weekend in which he will play a starring role right to the end: ”I'm quite pleased because we've collected a lot of useful information in practice, and I was a pleasure to ride in the sun, I had fun”.

Tom had fun, but that's not all…”To tell the truth, I was surprised to be the quickest: I need to make one or two adjustments but I'll sleep well and am relaxed, because I have great feeling. I'll tell my mechanics what to do and the great results at Sepang are already being confirmed here”.

Just behind Sykes is the current world champ, Northern Irishman Johnny Rea, just 0.039 behind his teammate, demonstrating that the performance of the two men in green is similar, and leads us to expect a great duel in the races: “I'm really pleased with the work done” said Rea, “we tried different solutions for the tyres to use in the race and some new electronics settings. Today wasn't a stressful day ebcause I'm really close to Tom in terms of lap times without any trouble”.
