Marquez: my battle with Rossi is only on the track

Rossi vs. Marquez has quickly become a ‘classic’ motorcycle rivalry. It was inevitable, because when two champions compete, a good show is always a guarantee. However, last year the duel went overboard and the battle went beyond the world of sports.

In recent months, the situations seemed to have returned to normal and in Barcelona the two even shook hands. However, a few days ago, Valentino was back on the subject in an interview granted to BT Sport where he alleged that in 2015, Marquez and Lorenzo had stolen the title from him.

Marc, busy in Madrid with the presentation of the cologne brand that bears his name, tried to throw some water on the flames.

The Spanish periodical AS reported his statement: “to be honest, I’m surprised that he went back to that subject, but the season finale is approaching and [editor’s note: Valentino] has a lot of experience in these types of situations. He knows how to play his cards well.

This does not mean that Marquez wants to play on the same pitch as Rossi.

I want to continue my battle on the track. I have no interest in off-track competitions and I don’t want to get involved” the Spaniard concluded.
