MotoGP: Folger surprises: I am enjoying this moment

The surprise of the second day of tests at Losail was Jonas Folger, taking third place and thereby completing the Yamaha trio.

“It was another good ay and I am very happy because we took consistent baby steps forward - the German rider said - When we began, the team and I confirmed some setups that we needed to test and the bike has actually improved. Then I did a semi race simulation for 12 laps in order to increase my confidence when the bike has a full tank of fuel and this was important after my crash during the Phillip Island tests. All told, the simulation went well and I was able to do fast and consistent times, so we can be very satisfied in what we have achieved. I wish to thank the team for their efforts. Everyone is doing a really good job and I am enjoying this moment astride the Yamaha.”

If Folger pulled out all the stops, the Moto2 world champion, Johann Zarco, concluded another very constructive test, finishing with the 10th best time just 158 thousandths behind Marc Marquez.

"The second day here was interesting and overall it was positive. Once again, I worked well, better than yesterday, because I felt more at ease on the Yamaha, which allowed me to ride faster and more consistently - the two-time world champion explained - I am improving step by step and I figured out how to achieve my goals. This is important and now I know that to be fast I need to be able to take the best possible advantage of the tyre in the first laps. I need to push as soon as I am on the track, so if I work well tomorrow and if we are able to do a fast lap at the beginning when the tyres are still fresh, I am sure that I’ll be able to finish the third and final day in a very positive way.”
