The numbers of races will increase while the number of test days will drop. This is the direction the Grand Prix Commission is taking as far as the future of MotoGP is concerned. On 7 October the commission met and decided to cut the number of test days for teams and riders
The first change is that, as of 2020, the two-day test that follows the final Valencia race will be cancelled, as will the test that precedes the inaugural race in Qatar, but from 2021.
This means that next year, once the season concludes, riders will only be able to test at Jerez on 19-20 November and, through the winter of 2021, only at Sepang from 6-8 February.
There is a possibility that three days of testing at Lombok, Indonesia, will be added, if the circuit features on the 2021 calendar.
A decision is still to be made as to which circuits will host the two one-day tests on the Monday following the race.
Lastly, there will likely be a two-day test at Misano at some point during the season.
