Gerloff is focusing on his body to recover from a 2021 that didn’t live up to his expectations. In fact, the Made in USA rider was disappointing in the second part of the season, after his accident with Razgatlioglu in Assen, which could have ended up compromising the Turkish rider’s championship. Yamaha is convinced of Gerloff’s potential and talent, In his first year in the SBK, he had performed really well, also conquering that step up into the MotoGP for the 2020 European Grand Prix free practice, and then for the entire race weekend in Assen in 2021.
So Garrett has been busy in the gym this winter, getting back into shape and regaining some of the confidence he lacked last season.
2022 may just be his year. He’ll have to go back to being the carefree guy who surprised the paddock in 2020 and also make fewer mistakes.
