Along with Alpine reserve driver Oscar Piastri, Jack Doohan will participate in his first Formula 1 test. On Sunday, May 15th, the son of MotoGP legend Mick Doohan will take to the track in Qatar, on the Losail International Circuit, on the A521 2021. The 19-year-old has been part of the Alpine junior team since January.

“I’m super excited to drive a Formula 1 car for the first time,” said the son of  “The Thunder from down under”. “This is a moment that I’ve been building up to ever since I started racing karts, and I know these opportunities are extremely privileged. I’m very grateful to Alpine for the opportunity, and I’m looking forward to giving it my best on the test day. I’ve watched behind the scenes at some private tests before, and I’ve completed a lot of preparation in the loop simulator at Enstone, so I’m definitely feeling ready for this challenge. I’ll build myself up on the day, enjoy it at the same time, and hopefully learn as much as possible alongside the team," Jack Doohan, who is currently in Formula 2, concluded.

"I’m in a completely different stage of my career, and I haven’t completed anything compared to the results obtained by dad, so I hope to be on the same path and be able to work in this sense,” Jack explained. “Dad has never boasted of his life as a rider. For as long as I can remember, I was passionate about motorcycles, and it was the only thing I wanted to do, and I think that, when I went to school and got a little older, I found out who Dad was, that he never tried to impose it or insist on who he was, he was just my dad. He’s a great idol and someone I can learn and take advice from."
