The Barcelona GP did not go the way Bagnaia expected, he had started to make up points on Quartararo and instead lost 25. Nakagami's collision at the first corner was disastrous and now 66 points separate him from the leader.
Now Pecco has no other chance than to finish ahead of Fabio in the next two rounds before the summer break, if he wants to keep his world championship hopes alive. This weekend the Sachsenring awaits him, next will be Assen.
On the German track, Ducati has been off the podium since 2016 and the rider from Piedmont has never been on the podium, but if there is a good time to reverse the trend, this is it.
"The German and Dutch GP, which we will be held next week at Assen, will be two significant rounds – he declared - After the retirement in Barcelona, we now are 66 points behind Quartararo. It won't be easy to catch up, but I will try to close the gap a little bit before the summer break. Right now, Fabio and the Yamaha are very strong, but we will work hard to get the best possible result on Sunday".
Miller is also anxiously awaiting the German GP after the disappointing performances at Mugello and Barcelona, when he ended up outside the points zone.
"I'm happy to be back racing this weekend in Germany – said Jack - After the last Grand Prix at Montmelò, I'm eager to get back on my Desmosedici GP and try to redeem myself. Sachsenring is a rather twisty and peculiar track, and it definitely won't be an easy race, but, as always, I'll give my best to try and get the best result."
