SBK, Tarran Mackenzie, British Superbike's "King of Brands Hatch"

Tarran Mackenzie and a photo finish, a double on the British Superbike Sunday at Brands Hatch, the culmination of a heated duel with teammate Jason O'Halloran. Honda on the podium with Glenn Irwin.

SBK: Tarran Mackenzie, British Superbike's

e can't deny that, for the past two-years, McAMS Yamaha has proven to be the benchmark for the British Superbike when it comes to performance and consistency. The result of two riders who together have reached 35 career achievements but, above all, the result of just as many R1s prepared ad hoc thanks to the direct support of its parent company. All we have to do is look at  Race 3 at Brands Hatch, where Tarran Mackenzie and Jason O'Halloran dethroned the competition, and more. A dualism of yesteryear, able to excite the spectators, which ended up in a photo-finish victory in favor of the leading champion.

Mackenzie’s double win

In an exciting and engaging last lap (in pure BSB style!), it took just 37 thousandths of a second for Mackenzie to overcome his teammate, conquering a valuable double win after Gara 2, as well as the second victory of the season. Forced to skip the first two rounds due to injuries to both ankles, Mackenzie was finally back to being the star of the race this weekend as he entered the Showdown area. And to think that someone had the courage to (unjustly) criticize him at the end of the not very exhilarating wild card in the Superbike World Championship at Donington Park ...

O'Halloran retains his leadership

O'Halloran’s final attack wasn’t enough to beat "Taz". Although he was defeated by his teammate, the Australian rider can at least console himself for having accumulated 10 points in the overall ranking (for what that may be worth during the Regular Season...), and with Bradley Ray again fourth at the finish line.

Podium Honda, Ducati fail

From mid-race onwards, the McAMS Yamaha riders all broke away, but the pleasant surprises were right behind them One above all: Glenn Irwin, skilled in returning the Honda Racing UK CBR 1000 RR-R to the podium 3 months after a triple win during the inaugural round at Silverstone. Tommy Bridewell (MotoRapido) once again held Borgo Panigale’s honor up high with a 5th place, while it was a total debacle for PBM Ducati. Josh Brookes fell during the first lap, while Tom Sykes wasn’t even able to race because of a problem he had with his V4-R on the grid. Next race coming up August 13th-14th at Thruxton.
