MotoGP: Gresini team starts over with Marquez and Di Giannantonio after Bastianini

The Gresini team has everything set for the new year and will unveil its Ducatis in Cervia on Saturday, January 21st. For the Italian team, 2022 was a year that was both difficult and full of satisfaction. Fausto Gresini’s wife Nadia and the entire team rolled up their sleeves to carry on Fausto's dream and start a new adventure.

There was no shortage of results, especially thanks to Enea Bastianini, who won four races during the season and placed 3rd in the hampionship (clearly the best among all the riders of the independent teams).

So the Gresini team ferried the Beast into the official Ducati team and is now preparing to start a new chapter in its history. To do so, they also confirmed Fabio Di Giannantonio (who managed a pole position at Mugello in his MotoGP debut season) and welcomed Alex Marquez into the family. This is going to be a continuation in the Italian rider’s growth and a new beginning for the Spanish rider.

After three years with Honda, it was time for Alex to change scenery, and his first experience with the Desmosedici was positive. He had to settle for just one day of testing in Valencia, but Alex seems on the right track towards getting back to the top positions with a competitive bike. (He’ll be riding the Ducati GP22, like his teammate).

The Gresini team will not only be present in the premier class, but it has also confirmed its commitment in the Moto2, in the intermediate class, with Filip Salac and Jeremy Alcoba, and in the MotoE, the class in which the Italian team won the 2019 championship with Matteo Ferrari. The rider from Rimini will continue to wear the Gresini colors, like Alessio Finello who’ll be joining him in the garage. A new challenge on the Ducati Electric will begin for both riders.

The team presentation will be held at 11 am on January 21st. The event will also be broadcast live on the team’s social media channels (Facebook and YouTube).
