MotoGP, Razgatlıoğlu: "I smiled a lot during the two days on the Yamaha M1"

The 'reward' test concluded for Toprak: "I tried to better understand the MotoGP, not to do a flying lap. It requires a completely different riding style from the R1 and I learned a lot"

MotoGP: Razgatlıoğlu:

Toprak Razgatlıoğlu was able to get to know the Yamaha M1 better in two days of testing in Jerez with good weather. The SBK champion, far from prying eyes, put the Japanese MotoGP bike through its paces, in the company of test rider Cal Crutchlow.

On the first day, the Turkish rider lapped within 7/10 of the times of his British colleague, even if certain numbers have to be taken with a pinch of salt because Cal was busy in testing and Toprak getting to grips with the MotoGP, the carbon brakes and the Michelin tyres. The tests still satisfied him, even if he didn't reveal much about it.

“I’ve had two really good days. My focus was on completing as many laps as possible to get a better understanding of the bike, rather than pushing for a fast lap time, but it was very enjoyable anyway!” said the statement released by Yamaha on its social media profiles.

“I learned a lot, the M1 MotoGP requires a completely different riding style from the R1 SBK - he continued - I want to thank Yamaha for giving me this great opportunity, everyone helped me a lot and I smiled a lot in these two days".

Who knows if it was just a 'gift' or if MotoGP will be in Razgatlıoğlu's future. At the moment, Yamaha only has two bikes on the grid, but Morbidelli's contract is about to expire. The final word has not yet been said for Toprak.
