The meeting between the former Ferrari / Toyota engineer and the former world champion. “This is the best result, I can't overtake. I couldn't do any more than that. Contact with Binder ruined everything done at the beginning. Two years ago I had a special bond with the Yamaha M1, but now I've run out of margin"

MotoGP: Quartararo: “Marmorini at Mugello? We just said hello”

Fabio Quartararo was unable to do any more than what he did. It was a disappointing Saturday at Mugello for Yamaha’s French rider, who had to settle for tenth place in the sprint race won by Bagnaia. The Rossa is on another planet and in comparison the Yamaha can do nothing but take the hit.

The Frenchman's face at the end of the race was a mixture of disappointment and at times resignation for a day that started uphill with him failing to get into Q2.

“It was a difficult qualifying – he began – in the second time attack I tried to push to set the time. However, Franco wanted to start immediately and perhaps it was a mistake. Unfortunately I lost a lot in the first sector and that affected my qualifying. We probably could have done more, but in the end it turned out as you saw. Being in Q2 might have changed something, but I don't know how much.

El Diablo then spoke about the race.

“I think I made a good start and to tell the truth the pace wasn't bad. Maybe I was struggling in some corners, but I wasn't doing so badly. The problem is that I touched with Binder and that episode ruined everything I had done in the first few laps. I did what I could and the top ten is the best result".

Fabio appeared to be somewhat dismayed by the current situation he is experiencing.

“More than that I could not do with the package I have. The problem is that we suffer a lot in terms of acceleration and while the others overtake us easily, I can do practically nothing to counter them. It's really difficult for us to overtake."

Then there is another aspect that he analyses.

“When we get to racing on tracks where the asphalt offers more grip, we can't take that step like the others. The tyre? I didn’t have any problems at the front. I pushed like it was some kind of qualifying. Then in the final stages I managed to get close to Enea".

Meanwhile Bagnaia, in addition to winning, also demolished his record.

"Two years ago I had something special with the Yamaha M1, in fact the more I rode the more I was able to improve. Now, however, I have no margin. As for Marmorini, I saw him, he's here at Mugello. We just said hello to each other."
