After four and a half years spent with the Oxford Products Racing Moto Rapido team, Tommy Bridewell is now experiencing a magic moment in British Superbike in his first season with Paul Bird's BeerMonster Ducati squad. On the Snetterton 300 track, the points leader made all the difference again, repeating his Saturday form for his third win the year as well as the tenth of his career in BSB. In the race, which was interrupted with the red flag for the accidents involving Danny Buchan and Peter Hickman, Tommy was in a league of his ow.
Red flag in Race 2
While the frontrunners were approaching the halfway point of the second race, Danny Buchan was sent to the ground in the middle of the group due to a technical problem on his SYNETIQ BMW by TAS while coming out of the corner named after Lewis Hamilton, also involving his brand mate Peter Hickman. After both had been transported to the medical centre for checks, the race was restarted with a small Sprint over a distance of eight laps.
Bridewell doubles up
The restart saw a combative Josh Brookes power into the lead astride the only surviving FHO Racing BMW. But then Tommy Bridewell took over on lap 3, passing 2015/20 champion in the Agostini corner. From that moment on, the Ducati man was able to build a comfortable one second lead over his pursuers, managing the race up to the chequered flag which he took ahead of Brookes and the 2018 Champion Leon Haslam (ROKiT BMW Motorrad Team), third.
Glenn Irwin off the podium again
Thanks to this second consecutive victory, Tommy Bridewell consolidates his championship lead with a 23-point gap over his teammate Glenn Irwin, who once again finished fourth, beating Jason O'Halloran in the sprint. Danny Kent and Lee Jackson were confirmed as the best Honda and Kawasaki riders, sixth and seventh respectively. While Tito Rabat was unable to do any better than thirteenth.
