MotoGP, Lecuona racing on LCR team’s Honda at Red Bull Ring

MotoGP: Lecuona racing on LCR team’s Honda at Red Bull Ring

Iker Lecuona’s MotoGP adventure isn’t over yet. In fact, the Spanish rider will also race at the Red Bull Ring with the LCR team, replacing Rins. After he seriously injured his leg at Mugello, Alex isn’t quite ready to get back on the bike, and Lucio Cecchinello’s team has officially confirmed that Iker will also take his place in the Austrian Grand Prix.

Lecuona had previously raced for the Italian team at Silverstone, achieving a 22nd place in the Sprint Race and an 18th place in Sunday’s race. This year, he had already taken to the track on the Honda MotoGP during two other occasions: he replaced Marc Marquez in Jerez and Joan Mir in Assen, without ever managing to score points.

But he’ll get another chance at the Red Bull Ring to continue testing the RC213V, as he waits to find out what his future awaits him. In fact, if Zarco doesn’t accept HRC’s offer to race for the LCR team in 2024 (as it seems), Lecuona could be a candidate for the bike.
