MotoGP: Marc Marquez compliments KTM on TV... and gives himself away!

Marc Marquez was the guest of the 'Sport and Talk' program on ServusTV, the Red Bull TV channel, ahead of this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring. Former 500c world champion Mick Doohan and KTM sporting director Pit Beirer were also taking part.

When asked about the catchphrase of the summer, namely whether he intends to switch to KTM before the end of his contract with Honda, Marc was adamant about his future which sees him still linked to HRC for the whole of next year, but he did have words of praise for the Austrian manufacturer .

“When KTM started they were at the back of the grid. And little by little they got closer. They are now the second-best constructor in the championship. But very soon, sooner than one might think, they will be the first - Marquez said - In competition, the key is ambition. If you have ambition, you will reach your destination. KTM are making excellent acquisitions in terms of engineers and riders," concluded the Spanish champion.

Beirer thanked him but he too explained that at least for 2024, KTM is unable to offer him one of its RC16s.

"It's a compliment for us to be associated with Marc and to hear him say words like the ones he just uttered - admitted Beirer - But we already have five riders for just four bikes available. Unfortunately, Marc won't be with us next year because he has a contract. We discussed it and he made it clear to us," Beirer reiterated.

A statement that clashes with what Marc himself said during the last Grand Prix, at Silverstone, when to a direct question he said he had never entered into discussions with KTM.
