MotoGP, Massimo Rivola enthusiastic: "Aprilia is making history"

"Aleix's entry on Vinales wasn't super soft, but it was acceptable because both want to win. It's neither a point of arrival nor the beginning of a cycle. We've found a more congenial track for us, as had already happened at Silverstone and in Argentina"

MotoGP: Massimo Rivola enthusiastic:

The two incidents at the start of the Barcelona GP made life easier for Aprilia who, surprisingly, ended the weekend with a splendid one-two finish. In fact, Aleix Espargaró got the better of his box mate Maverick Vinales almost in a sprint finish.

The satisfaction of the managing director Massimo Rivola was inevitable, but first of all he wanted to dedicate a thought to two of the protagonists of the initial chaos.

"Good luck to Bagnaia and Bastianini, who I've heard isn't very good, while Pecco will still have to do some checks. Then what can I say, we're making history. Every year it gets better and better. In 2022 the first victory and now the first double. We are very happy – he declared - Here, for a series of reasons, our bike was the strongest and we are enjoying it".

It's a short step from euphoria to realism and so, answering those who asked him if this result can be considered the beginning of a cycle, he said: "It is neither a point of arrival, nor the beginning of a cycle. We found a more congenial track for us, as had already happened at Silverstone and in Argentina, where, however, for various reasons we weren't able to show it. The RS-GP has characteristics that make it very competitive on some tracks".

This awareness makes the manager believe that a 1-2 could have come even in the Sprint Race if the world champion hadn't given his all. "Saturday Pecco made the difference in resisting, otherwise we would have done the same".

After the Spanish success, the next stop at the Marco Simoncelli circuit might not be so favourable. "Misano is absolutely not one of our circuits, however Maverick likes it a lot and he’s improving all the time".

And who knows whether in spite of everything we won't be able to witness another close and tense battle between the two from Noale as we saw this Sunday. "I was worried because we're not used to fighting for the top positions," confided the 51-year-old. "Aleix's entry on Vinales wasn't super soft, but it was acceptable because they both want the win. You can't say they were not correct, so it was fine, we're enjoying it, but tomorrow is already another day." he concluded.
