Takaaki Nakagami will be racing with Honda and the LCR team in 2024. In the midst of so many market activities (real or presumed), we almost forgot that Nakagami’s contract was expiring. Today it was officially renewed.
This is going to be Taka’s 7th year on Lucio Cecchinello’s team, the team with which he made his MotoGP debut in 2018. Nakagami has gained lots of positions in the premier class but never a podium. Now he’ll have another year ahead of him to reach his goal.
“I feel like LCR is part of my family and, of course, I’m excited to be with them for another season,” Takaaki said. “I want to thank the team and HRC for this opportunity. I know we're a great combination. Now’s the time to work even harder to be ready for the future.”
Lucio Cecchinello added: “I’m proud to be able to count on Nakagami for another year. He’s a fast rider who can get good results and, along with HRC, we believe it’s time to keep pushing, since he’s one of the guys with the most experience on this bike. We’ll do our best to fight for the positions we’re aiming for.”
