This will be the 21st Grand Prix at Lusail since it joined the calendar in 2004, and the 16th under floodlights. In 2020, only Moto2 and Moto3 races were held due to the Covid-19 pandemic. From 2007 to 2022, the Qatar GP was the season opener, and it will return to being so for the 2024 season.

Qatar is one of eight Asian countries to host a Grand Prix (all solo classes) along with Indonesia, Turkey, Japan,Thailand, China, Malaysia, and India. Lusail is one of the 13 different circuits that have been used for GP racing in Asia so far: Motegi (69 GP races), Sepang (68), Lusail (59), Suzuka (56), Shah Alam (21), Shanghai (12), Buriram (12), Istanbul Park (9), Fisco/Fuji (8), Sentul (6), Mandalika (6), Johor (3), and Buddh (3).

Yamaha: Yamaha is the most successful manufacturer at Lusail with 10 MotoGP wins, with four different riders: Valentino Rossi (2005, 2006, 2010 and 2015), Jorge Lorenzo (2012, 2013 and 2016), Maverick Viñales (2017, 2021/1) and Fabio Quartararo (2021/2)

Ducati: Ducati have had six MotoGP wins in Qatar with three different riders, Casey Stoner (2007, 2008 and 2009), Andrea Dovizioso (2018 and 2019) and Enea Bastianini (2022).

Honda: Honda have had three MotoGP wins in Qatar with three different riders, Sete Gibernau (2004), Casey Stoner (2011) and Marc Marquez (2014).

Aprilia: Aprilia’s best MotoGP result in Qatar is P4 with Aleix Espargaro in 2022.

KTM: KTM made their full-time debut in MotoGP in Qatar in 2017. Brad Binder finished P2 in 2022, which is the best result for the Austrian manufacturer at this track in the class.
