Aleix Espargarò’s slap on Franco Morbidelli during FP3 has cost the Aprilia rider dearly (HERE the video of the episode). The Stewards, in fact, judged his gesture to be contrary to the regulations, in particular article 3.3.2.2 which prohibits "any corrupt or fraudulent act, or any action of prejudicial to the interests of the meetings or of the sport, carried out by a person or a group of persons occurring during an event”.
For this reason, Espargarò was punished with a fine of 10,000 euros and a 6-place grid penalty for tomorrow's race. So, in today's Sprint he will start from 10th place, while in the long race from 16th.
Lecuona was also penalized by 3 positions on the grid for the long race (although he will only lose one as he is classified second to last). Iker, in fact, hindered Enea Bastianini in Q1, proceeding slowly and on track at turn 10 just when he was overtaking the Rimini rider on his fastest lap.
