MotoGP, Alex Marquez and Gresini welcome Marc: "More than a family"

In the DAZN documentary entitled 'Alex', Marc's brother talks about his adventure in Gresini, the team that literally helped him with his renaissance in MotoGP and which has now also welcomed Marc for 2024

MotoGP: Alex Marquez and Gresini welcome Marc:

Alex Marquez is no longer 'just' Marc's brother. The Spaniard arrived in MotoGP in 2020 in the team with the more than cumbersome figure of a Marc who at the time was the undisputed dominator aboard the Honda. However, they coexisted very little with Repsol colours, because Alex was virtually ousted before the start of the 2020 season and then only raced in the team with Marc on one occasion in Jerez, before the terrible injury that forced the eldest of the brothers to skip the whole season.

At the end of two more seasons in LCR with a Honda already in clear difficulty, Alex seemed to have missed the MotoGP train, but Gresini Racing wanted to give him an opportunity and 2023 confirmed that in terms of talent, Alex also has little to envy to anyone. Two victories in the Sprint Races of Silverstone and Sepang, 177 points in the standings and a top ten world championship are not achieved by chance but to be able to achieve these results, Alex needed not only a good bike like the Ducati, but also a team capable of making him express itself at his best.

"It's true that on the first day I was very reserved because it's difficult for me to open up due to my personality - explained Alex - I expected what I would find in Gresini Racing, but I didn't think I'd find everything that I actually saw. It’s a family atmosphere, it's easy to get along with everyone, from Nadia Padovani to Michele Masini. If I need something, I can have it. This ease makes the rider calmer and it shows. In an Italian team, you feel at home ".

But it is not only the family atmosphere that worked in Gresini, but also the support received from Ducati.

"There is a good bond with the Factory, you feel appreciated and it is something that I have missed over the years in Honda. Being there and being listened to is something important for a rider and for me in particular it is, given my personality. I really like it"

Alex was in turn given full marks by Nadia Padovani.

"Alex is a great professional. I understood it on the first day of testing we did in Valencia. When he returned to the garage, his instructions, what he had heard on the bike... I immediately really liked his approach, his sensitivity and his way of working with the team regarding the bike."
