SBK: Supersport: Oli Bayliss set to continue with Ducati and Davide Giugliano

Team D34G Racing is entering year three of their WorldSSP commitment once again with the Ducati Panigale V2 955 and with Oli Bayliss as rider. The 20-year-old son of Troy is gearing up for his second season with the Italian squad aiming to build on the work done in 2023 aboard the Ducati. Bayliss will be joined in the European rounds by fellow Australian Tom Edwards. The 22-year-old from Wellington, a small town in New South Wales, will tackle the WorldSSP Challenge following his debut season last year and three years (2018-2020) spent in the WorldSSP300 category.

“I’m very excited to be racing for Team D34G Racing again – said Bayliss – I feel like last year I didn’t get to show my speed due to some injuries and unlucky moments. I really enjoyed being with these guys and I’m happy to be going around the clock one more time to show how fast we can be. A big thank you to all of my sponsors, supporters and the whole D34G Racing for giving me this opportunity.”

“I’m really looking forward to this next chapter in my career. It’s a really exciting opportunity to be joining the D34G team and to work under the leadership of Davide - were the words of Edwards - Really grateful to Davide for backing me and giving me this opportunity. I’m really confident together we will see consistent strong results. Really excited to ride the V2, I think this bike will really suit my riding style. It’ll be great to have Oli as my team mate too, think we might be the first Aussie teammates in SuperSport which is pretty cool. Going be a huge year, can’t wait for the season to get started.”

Team manager Davide Giugliano commented: “Obviously I’m really excited to dive into this new season and I can’t wait to get to the track. I’m really happy with this year’s rider line-up. We will continue with Oli and for him it’ll be another season of growth and we’ll try to maximise the work done this year, which for him was a bit of an unlucky one due to injuries. In any case I’m happy with him and he surely has mine and the team’s full trust. Regarding Edwards I would like to give him a warm welcome; it’ll be interesting to see him racing with us. He already showed some good speed and I believe that he can aim at good results with our team. Now it’s up to us to put both riders in the best condition to give their best. It’ll also be interesting to see two fellow Aussies sharing the pit-garage. Obviously I would like to thank all the sponsors for allowing us to continue in this journey. See you at the track!”
