After adding the title of Moto2 World Champion to the one he won in 2021 in the Moto3, Pedro Acosta is ready to make his debut in the MotoGP, where he’ll be competing on the GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3 team’s RC16.
A step that the 19-year-old from Mazarrón will take under the wing of KTM, the constructor that brought him from the Rookies Cup to the Premier Class of the World Championship. But MT Helmets, the brand that accompanied the Tiburón from the CEV until his test day in Valencia in November, won’t be part of this new chapter of his career. Acosta announced the separation yesterday, posting a long farewell message on his social media channels to his historic partner.

“Today I bid farewell to the brand that saved my sporting career. It hurts to leave now, when I’m moving to the MotoGP, but I really think that our roads will meet again, and that I’ll return home one day. It’s just a question of time. They bet on me when I was in the CEV and took care of everything I needed without any problems. The truth is that they gave everything they had for me to bring me to the World Championship and, today, we separate with a helmet that was a two-time world champion and has reached many victories,” the two-time World Champion wrote to the Spanish helmet manufacturer.
“It’s very comforting to look now at how we’ve grown together, to achieve what, from my point of view, is one of the best helmets in the World Championship. The farewell party was very special. It has always been very exciting to go to MT headquarters, but it was even more so this time. There are so many people there, most of whom have known me since I was fifteen. One way or another, everyone has helped to bring this helmet to the World Championship and to conquer the successes we’ve achieved together. I’m very proud to have spent these five years together with MT Helmets, and it was really nice to say goodbye to everyone in Cartagena. Thank you for everything.”
