MotoGP, Zarco: “I enjoy riding the Honda, but sometimes I can’t make the times"

“We’ve worked hard, and I trust HRC. Our chance will come. I was impressed by Bagnaia. He seems even faster. The Q1? A Top 10 would be great. Easier to do in the Sprint.”

MotoGP: Zarco: “I enjoy riding the Honda, but sometimes I can’t make the times

The LCR team’s Honda Castrol livery has won everyone over. But a MotoGP bike has to be fast before it’s beautiful. From this viewpoint, the road is still long, but Johann Zarco was confident at the end of the Qatar tests.

We collected a lot of information, and we were able to confirm the package with which we’ll be starting the season. Then, in the GP, we’ll focus on improving the times and being more competitive, also working on the set-up. We tried everything the Honda needed, and I’m confident that we can progress,” the best Honda rider, with a 17th final time, explained.

Johann likes the RC213V. “The sensations on the bike are all good. I have fun on the bike, but sometimes I can’t make the times,” he admitted. “I also fell in my last time attack. I could’ve done something better, but I made a mistake. I went wide and lost the front. These things happen. It’s always good to try and understand what happens. The tests are the right time to do so.”

The important thing is that the Japanese are working hard to get back on track.

Already from Sepang to here, there have been some interesting big changes. We have the concessions, so we have to be patient because opportunities will arise,” Johann said optimistically.

His rivals, however, aren’t certainly just standing there watching, and Zarco has no doubt about who the man to beat is.

I was impressed by Pecco. He seems to be even faster than last year, and from how he controls the situation,” he  observed. “As far as the others are concerned, they’re all fast. But, seeing how they finished last season, they didn’t surprise me.”

What can we expect from the rider from Cecchinello in the first GP? “A top ten would be a great result, and I think it’ll be more possible in the sprint than in the long race. So, I’ll try to get it on Saturday,” he concluded.
