MotoGP: Morbidelli “fit and enlisted”, doctor’s OK for Qatar

As Michele Pirro had anticipated in Vallelunga, the first green light of the week for Franco Morbidelli comes from the doctors who have been monitoring him in recent weeks.

The MRI on March 2nd gave favorable results, allowing Franky to finally get back into action. But the doctors on the circuit will run several more tests March 7th to give him the final green light to go.

At the end of January, Morbidelli fell during a training session in Portimão. After weeks of recovery, tests, and medical evaluations, Franky felt ready to face the Qatar test. But the doctors hadn’t yet given him the okay to race and advised the rider to wait a couple of more weeks before returning to the track, as a purely precautionary measure.

Now, five weeks after the accident, Franky will finally make his Prima Pramac Racing debut at the Qatar Airways Grand Prix in Qatar, which will mark the start of the Championship’s 2024 season.

I’m very happy to have received the medical authorization to start the season,” Morbidelli  said. “I’m looking forward to trying out the bike and to returning to the dynamics of the races, and getting to know the people on my new team better. This year represents a significant change in my career and, although this accident was unfortunate, it’s now over, and I want to look forward to it. I thank the doctors who monitored me, and the people who supported me during these weeks, and a special thanks goes to Prima Pramac Racing for their support.
