SBK: Balaton Park towards a farewell, Dorna evaluating the Pannonia Ring

If in recent weeks the future of the Balaton Park stage seemed quite uncertain, in recent hours the possibility of the circuit's cancellation from the 2024 World Superbike calendar has become increasingly concrete .

Critical issues concerning the facility inaugurated in May last year, which in the original plan was supposed to host the production-derived series on the weekend of August 23-25, seem to have left Dorna with no option but to consider an alternative to the race on the shores of Lake Balaton.

The priority of the championship organizers is to keep the eighth round of Superbike in Hungary, given the country's nearly 35-year absence from the calendar. That is precisely why Dorna is considering moving the round to the Pannonia-Ring track, located 200 km from Budapest. A little-known track but already accustomed to motorcycle racing, as certified by the fact that it will host the second Round of the Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship next June.
