Tragic accident at Hockenheim 1000 km for 21-year-old Troy Beinlich

Nearly a year and a half after Leon Langstädtler's death, the Hockenheimring is once again in mourning. Earlier in the day, Troy Beinlich died in a tragic accident that occurred during the Hockenheim 1000 km: the traditional opening round of the German Endurance Cup, Deutschen Langstrecken Cup (DLC).

Despite timely rescue operations, there was nothing that could be done for the Pößneck-born 21-year-old who died of serious injuries. The event organizers provided no further information on the dynamics of the dramatic accident and, after promptly suspending the race, they decided not to continue the 1000 km Hockenheim.

Beinlich had taken part in the race at the Hockenheimring to prepare for the upcoming IDM season, where he was expected to participate in the Supersport class of the German championship. He had joined in 2023, after several years in the Supersport 300 class. Teaming up with his older brother, Christoph, with the Vitori-BRT team, Troy was aiming for his first Top 10 results in this 2024 season and wanted to establish himself among the leading riders in the category.
