MotoGP, Rins, the last sheriff in Austin: "I want to think about the present, not the past"

After Marc Marquez, Alex Rins has won the most in Austin. The Spanish rider achieved his first success in Texas in 2019 on the Suzuki, and had (surprisingly) repeated it last year on the Honda. Now that he’s riding the Yamaha, he has the chance to complete a trio with all the Japanese bikes. It's certainly not an easy feat to accomplish, because the M1 is far from being at the level of the best MotoGP bikes, but the Circuit of the Americas always reserves surprises.

"Of course, I’m very happy to return to COTA. It's a track I really like, and last year's win was something special. But, instead of spending too much time remembering the past, I want to focus on the task at hand," Rins noted.

To understand the competitiveness of his Yamaha in Texas, he’ll have to wait until tomorrow. Unfortunately, the test day scheduled after the Portimão GP was canceled due to rain. It would’ve been useful to better prepare for the American round.

"It was a real shame that the private test in Portimão was canceled,” Alex said. "We were very unlucky with the weather. We had to change our plans. This weekend, we’ll work on the adjustments to my bike."
