Marc Marquez spoke again about his decision to leave Honda with TNT Sports a year ahead of the natural termination of his contract.
"It was a very difficult decision. I didn't listen to my heart. I just thought about what was best for my future, and what I thought is that I still wanted to be a MotoGP rider for many more years. The Repsol Honda team was my life, my career. It was very difficult to leave my mechanics, my technicians, and the sponsors, but I told them, if I do another year here, my career will end, because my mental health would suffer."
Joining Team Gresini has changed his perspective and put a smile back on Marquez's face.
"I'm having fun. Going through a weekend thinking about being in the top ten or the top five or fighting for the podium isn't the same thing. The main reason I made this decision was to give myself and answer as to whether I was still competitive enough. I gave myself an answer, and it was 'yes, I am competitive'. Obviously, being even more competitive to fight for the title is one thing. Currently, I can fight for the top five places with the best, and that makes me happy."
