MotoGP, Bastianini: "fast and consistent, but I can't make the difference like in 2022"

"Unfortunately with this Ducati I can't overtake, in fact I was behind Binder for a long time. Bagnaia? The difference is that I have to brake earlier than him."

MotoGP: Bastianini:

The Jerez race left a bitter taste in the mouth for Enea Bastianini. On the day in which Bagnaia triumphs, the Romagnolo rider must in fact console himself with fifth place behind Alex Marquez after a GP where he was behind Binder's KTM for a long time.

For his part, there is a bit of disappointment despite having been the protagonist of another GP marked by consistency, so much so that he finished in the top five.

"I expected to do better in this race, especially in overtaking, which still remains our limit - he said - the start was not bad, but I was bottled up and so I had to take it one step at a time. The good thing is to have the speed, but there remains the problem of not being able to overtake. Already since last year I have been struggling to brake from straight on, as opposed to entering the corners, which is something that others can do better."

Enea's head is now focussed on Monday's testing.
"Obviously we have some ideas and tonight we will already be working to understand what to do. At the end the speed was there and I could get further ahead. Unfortunately, Binder is really difficult to overtake and like yesterday he slowed me down in the race."

Bastianini ended his analysis making a comparison with Bagnaia.
"The difference between me and Pecco is that I tend to lock the front more and as a result I have to lift off earlier. I don't know if it is due more to aerodynamics or the position on the bike, but this is the negative side of my bike that I have to solve. I am very disappointed, because I was riding well and so I have a bitter taste in my mouth. Nevertheless, I am fast and consistent, but I can't make a difference in the race like I did in 2022."
