MotoGP: It remains mandatory for MotoGP teams to wear helmets in the pit lane

La Grand Prix Commission, composta da Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Paul Duparc (FIM), Hervé Poncharal (IRTA) e Biense Bierma (MSMA), alla presenza di Carlos Ezpeleta (Dorna), Mike Webb (IRTA, Segretario del Meeting), Corrado Cecchinelli (Director of Technology), Jorge Viegas (Presidente FIM), Paul King (FIM CCR Director) e Dominique Hebrard (FIM CTI Technical Manager) si sono incontrato a Jerez il 26 April 2024.

The following proposals were approved unanimously by the Commission:

It remains compulsory for MotoGP team members to use helmets in pit lane during the busy periods when bike changes may be made. This is defined as Q1 and Q2, and in case of bike changes during a MotoGP flag-to-flag race.

In the Moto2 and Moto3 classes, riders who participate in both Q1 and Q2 qualifying sessions (a maximum of 4 riders) will be allocated one extra front slick tyre of their preferred specification (therefore, if taken, a maximum of 9 front slick tyres) and one extra rear slick tyre of their preferred specification after Q2 (therefore, if taken, a maximum of 10 rear slick tyres), on the condition that both Q1 and Q2 are declared dry.

In all GP classes, various decisions have been taken, in particular, to ensure better respect for the hierarchy of disciplinary bodies and to redefine the authority and competence of the FIM Appeal Stewards.
