Dorna and the Assen circuit have struck a deal to host the MotoGP Grand Prix and Superbike races until 2031. The TT is a historic circuit, where races were held since 1949, the year the MotoGP was founded. And next year will mark the centennial of the first race on the Dutch track.
"We're very happy to announce Assen's long-term future on the calendar," said Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna's CEO. "It was part of the very first season of Grand Prix racing in 1949, and no other venue has been with us throughout the seventy-five years of racing we celebrate in 2024. It's a unique event, but we're not only returning for the history or the statistics. Racing at Assen, even one-hundred years after the first races held in the area, is still something special, and it only gets better. It’s a fantastic, modern venue that continues to offer us incredible races and iconic moments. And there's no better combo than the world’s most exciting sport racing in one of its greatest venues."
