MotoGP, Petrucci: "Knowing Dall'Igna, I don't think he'll let Marquez get away"

"Gigi is ruthless, and this way of thinking has made Ducati the team of reference in the MotoGP. I think he's curious to find out what Marc can do with his bike. I feel bad for Bastianini. I hope he shows his full potential."

MotoGP, Petrucci: "Knowing Dall'Igna, I don't think he'll let Marquez get away"

Danilo Petrucci was a guest in our Bar Sport and, along with Petrux, we touched on many topics. He told us about his injury, how grateful he was that he didn't suffer worse consequences, and also about his great desire to get back on the bike as soon as possible and fight in the SBK with Barni again. Among the many questions, we asked him for his opinion on the incident regarding Pecco Bagnaia's future teammate in Ducati. According to Danilo, it's going to be Marc Marquez who, along with Bagnaia, offered some great entertainment in Jerez.

"I don't have insider information, but I have a hunch that it's going to be Marquez," Danilo said. "I don't know if there are issues related to the energy drink sponsorship but, from what I understand - something I'd then feel bad about for Enea - Gigi Dall'Igna won't let a rider like Marquez get away. He brought the Ducati to win, because he's ruhless in his method of reasoning, in the sense that he's ruthless in the pursuit of his goal."

is working with a man you call ruthless difficult from a sports aspect?
"He can be nice or unpleasant, but he has made Ducati the team of reference in the MotoGP. Knowing his way of thinking, I think Gigi wants to find out what a rider like Marquez can do on his bike. Granted, Pecco is living an incredible moment and has always made the difference in the moments when it mattered, but I don't know if it would please him if Marc comes. Maybe that aspect should also be assessed here. The human side in the garage. Then, they might be two great champions, each one doing their own thing. But it seems to me that, when they look at each other, they each see red. Rightly so, of course, because each one wants to show that he's the best. Pecco in Jerez was outstanding, insane."

But every rider thinks he's the best in the world, right?
"Every rider, when  he gets on the track - from the JuniorGP, to the Moto3, and the MotoGP - always thinks he's the fastest. Otherwise, he wouldn't be there."

In your opinion, would Bastianini or Martìn deserve that bike more?
"I feel really bad for Enea, because I don't think he achieved as much as he could've without the injury last year. I don't think he's expressed his full potential on the factory Ducati, and I hope he succeeds. Martìn clearly would like to go to the factory Ducati, and he deserves it, like I'd also like Bezzecchi. I'm rooting for him. In the end, I think they'll assess the results. It won't be easy. The only thing I hope is that they won't make hasty decisions based on the moment."

Maybe they're rushing too much?
"The market keeps anticipating more and more. I think we should assess more than half the championship and not just a few races. I also hope that they don't burden the riders with this situation too much, because these choices destabilize you a lot. Knowing that you're on the ballot for an official team is great but difficult. You know it's a chance that can change your life on a sports level. You care about that, obviously."
