We ended last night wondering what had happened with Bagnaia's Ducati in the Sprint. His team was working on analyze the data and figuring out what had gone wrong, to the extent that Pecco decided to withdraw. Ducati's Team Manager, Davide Tardozzi, talked about it in an interview with Sky.
"The problem also started with a bad start yesterday," he explained. "The bike reared up and, when the front wheel touched the ground, the holeshot device turned off, so it kept rearing up, and Pecco lost lots of positions. Then he went straight and, at that point, his race was over.
But Bagnaia had also stated yesterday that "continuing would have been dangerous", which seemed to allude to a technical glitch on his Desmosedici. Tardozzi said there wasn't any.
"The electronics had no problem," he clarified. "Unfortunately, it didn't have the same feeling as the first bike. You always try to make then identical, but maybe the calibrations weren't perfect. The feeling wasn't identical. If we want to find a problwm, it's that we didn't try the second bike enough over the weekend. But, by internal protocol, we couldn't use the first one after the fall in qualifying."
