SBK, Assen, Rea: I'm really, really happy!

Assen, Rea: I'm really, really happy!

A perfect weekend for beaming Jonathan Rea. The World Champ has done the double at Assen with a wisely managed Race 2 and a tyre-change strategy that assured him of 50 important championship points, also in light of the difficulties faced by his direct rivals:"Our aim this weekend was to increase our championship lead and we did that. I'm really, really happy!"

After the double victory in Australia the Northern Irishman does the same at Assen, a track that is clearly kind to the Kawasaki rider who's topped the podium in nine occasions in Holland: "To be honest I don't know why it goes so well here, but today was difficult anyway. Before the start, I told Pere (Riba,  his crew chief), to be ready as I knew the track would dry out quickly, and it did. It went well."

A delicate situation but he and his team was able to manage it perfectly:"When we needed to keep calm and control the situation we did just that. Then when it was time to bring home the result, we were all ready. Considering the weekend's conditions, we couldn't have done it any better."

A different mood in Tom Sykes' camp. The error in selecting the rear tyre conditioned his final laps, right when he needed to give it his all to try to attack Rea: "At the start of race I knew I could do more with the wet tyres, seeing that we were suffering with the grip at maximum lean due to the mixed conditions of the track. I decided to come in early to change the tyre but we made a mistake that cost us. Choosing the intermediate rear didn't allow us to give the maximum. Even if I was able to keep a good pace through the final stages and, overall, after yesterday's crash, second place isn't bad."
