MotoGP, Marquez: Satisfied with fifth

"I was only thinking about the championship". Dani Pedrosa: "better in the race than in practice"

Marquez: Satisfied with fifth

At the end of the day Ducati gave Marquez a gift with its double in Austria, taking important points from the Yamaha pair. Marc didn't have an easy weekend, on Saturday morning he dislocated his shoulder and the Honda was not at the level of his competition at the Red Bull Ring. In these conditions, losing 5 points to Lorenzo and 2 to Rossi is almost a win.

After what happened on Saturday, I'm happy with how the race went - says the Spaniard - My shoulder wasn't hurting me so I have no excuses. I would have accepted 5th place if you'd offered it to me before the race, because I knew that the Ducatis and the Yamahas were fast and this was the best possible result”.

His championship advantage remains a significant one.

It's positive to have lost only 5 points to Lorenzo - he continues - Considering my difficulties, it was clear that I would be thinking about the championship. I made an aggressive start because it was the only thing I could do, to try to fight with the leading group, but after a couple of mistakes I lost contact and it was difficult to catch up”.

Dani Pedrosa was also pleased with 7th at the end of a tough GP.

I went better in the race than in practice, lapping with times similar to the fastest guys - he comments, noting the positives - Today I was able to take a step forward and now I must continue to work to be able to make progress in the next race too”.
