SBK, Savadori: "Aprilia can aim for the top"

The former STK1000 champion is enthusiastic despite closing ninth: "Today the wind and rain didn't help us. Tomorrow I plan to make many laps to make up for it"

SBK: Savadori: "Aprilia can aim for the top"

It was not a dream test day for Lorenzo Savadori, mainly due to the track conditions but despite this, number 32 has a smile on his face as he sums up day one: “The weather clearly conditioned today's test, as the rain stopped and started, but despite that we were able to complete some laps in the dry and get back in the swing of things with the bike. The track is not the one I know best, having only ridden here last year, and then in 2010 before that, and it's tough in terms of the high-speed and blind corners, so even having just completed some laps is already positive. What has today taught us? That it's very hard with the wind (he laughs).”

Considering today's conditions, the young Italian has only one goal tomorrow: “Tomorrow I want to get straight on track and complete many laps to make up for the time lost today. Then we'll try to understand where we need to focus our attention".

In his analysis, “Ciukkino” also offers some insight about his Aprilia, which now features different colours to last year: “The important thing is that compared to last year I'm covering more miles, something that is helping me to gain greater feeling with the bike, which is difficult or impossible even during the race weekends. Here at Phillip Island the bike has behaved well, even in the difficult sections like the changes of direction" .

Things are looking good, if not great, and the feeling is that the Savadori-Aprilia pairing could prove to be a serious loose cannon for the big names: "I've always considered this to be a competitive bike that can run at the front, at the top. Today we're ninth, but if everything is working as well as I think it will, we can definitely climb the standings throughout the season".
