MotoGP: Sepang thinking of a nighttime Grand Prix in 2021

Qatar may not be the only Grand Prix that will take place at night. Sepang is also thinking of a race under artificial lighting. This was confirmed by Razlan Razali, CEO of the Malaysian circuit: “We started talking about the possibility with Franco Uncini and Dorna, but we're only at a preliminary stage. The idea is to race at night in 2021, but first we'll have to test it and see if our lighting system is adequate."

The track already has spotlights. Outside the circuit, billboards advertise the possibility of trying to race at night and, at the 8 Hours of Sepang, the riders raced under artificial lighting.

Franco Morbidelli, who participated in the race, commented: "It was an interesting experience. There is less light than Losail, and also having the headlights on the bike is something different. It took me a few laps to go fast."
