MotoGP, Pol Espargarò: “I can’t hold back anymoew. Let’s do it!”

“With three races, you can’t risk getting injured, but there’s not much time left. It’s all or nothing. I could fall, but I’m behind in the championship, so I’ll try to take advantage of this opportunity.”

MotoGP: Pol Espargarò: “I can’t hold back anymoew. Let’s do it!”

His adventure with KTM is coming to an end. Next year, he’ll have to share the garage with Marc Marquez in Honda, that’s why  Pol Espargarò would like to end this story with a victory. And, while he waits, he gave himself a start from pole as a gift.

It’s nice to start from a pole, especially in these conditions where it’s easy to go fast but also fall,” he explained, and then added:  “I thought, with three races, you can’t risk getting injured, but it’s also true that you can’t keep hold back. I managed to do a perfect lap, and I’ll race all or nothing. I’ll push from start to finish. I could fall, but I’m behind in the championship. so I’ll try to take advantage of this opportunity, like next Sunday, then we’ll see in Portimao.”

He’s not the first rider to speak like this. Morbidelli also he explained that, in the first few laps, he’ll take risks. However, Pol analyzed the possible situations.

Rins is always very fast. If he starts better, I’ll follow him and analyze him for a moment. If instead I’m in front, I’ll push to the max. We don’t know how the tires will react. The only thing I have in mind is that I’ll take a risk,” he repeated, and then added: “We didn’t use Pedrosa’s data because, when he raced, they were 22nd, but if it’s dry, we’ll take a look at it. I know that he struggled a bit to set the times, like what happened with Pirro.

The youngest of the Espargarò brothers has always been an aggressive rider, but he acknowledged that something went wrong lately.

We haven’t been up to par with other constructors on some tracks lately,” he observed. “We also  got off to a good start on Friday and fell behind on Saturday because the opponents had found better solutions in set-up and electronics. But now things are looking good for us.

Pol now finally wants to celebrate his first victory in KTM on Sunday in Valencia; Brad Binder, in Brno, and Miguel Oliveira at Red Bull Ring 2 beat him. He considers himself the leader of the team, the only one who has been racing for KTM in the MotoGP for four years, and so he’s deserves this triumph.

Let’s do it! There aren’t many opportunities left this year! I really want to enjoy this Grand Prix tomorrow. Then we’ll see what’ll happen ...
