Moto2, Raul Fernandez: right hand fracture and surgery, but he’ll be in Aragon

Last week, Raul Fernandez suffered a slight fracture of the fifth metacarpal of his right hand while training on a bicycle. He was operated on by Dr. Xavier Mir and his team at the Unidad de la Extremidad Superior Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona on Sunday. Raul is already working on his recovery and will be present at the Aragon Grand Prix.

“I feel pretty good after the surgery,” Raul  explained. “We’ve already started rehab, and my hand is doing better than expected. I’m positive, even if I’ll have to improve little by little. I want to thank doctor Xavier Mir’s team at the Unidad de la Extremidad Superior Hospital Universitari Dexeus, because they quickly performed the surgery, speeding up the process, and they were very professional. After what happened, I don’t want to set any goals for this Grand Prix. I want to take things day by day, seeing how I’ll feel, because my right hand is the one I use for the gas and brake. Aragon is a track that I really like, since I got my first world championship podium there last yeaf.  I’ll do my best to be able to race on Sunday, if my hand will allow it.”

Fernandez is currently 2nd in the Moto2 championship standings behind his teammate, Remy Gardner.
