Moto2: Rodrigo says “enough”: “I risked dying, I don’t want to race anymore”

Gabriel Rodrigo decided to hang up his helmet, asap. The rider from Argentina announced this with a video on his social media channels explaining the reasons behind his decision, mainly reached because of his accident last season, before signing his contract to race in the Moto2.

Rodrigo raced the first stages of the season riding the SAG Team’s Kalex, but with bad results attributable to both a poor winter preparation caused by his injury, and problems on the bike that convinced Rodrigo to say “that’s enough”. He had already separated from his team, which announced his replacement with Taiga Hada at the end of the season.

His message

“Hello everyone. I’m making this video to announce that I have decided to end my career as a professional rider. It was something I’ve been thinking about for a while, but I want to explain to you what led me to this decision. It all started last year before I signed the contract to race in the Moto2, when I had a serious training accident where I risked my life, and everything that happened to other riders during that period made me think a lot about whether it’s worth taking so many risks. I’m no longer willing to put my life at risk, for myself and for those who love me, to continue racing. This is what led me to my decision.”
