MotoGP, Tardozzi: "We will decide the GP23 bike at Portimao: we still have one weak point to work on"

“The 2023 Ducati has some good points, but Pecco found a weak point that he asked us to fix. We have to respect the request of the World Champion”

MotoGP: Tardozzi:

At the end of the three days of official testing in Sepang, four Ducatis filled the top five places in the final standings and no less than seven in the top ten. A significant result, a sign that the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, first in all three days with Bezzecchi, Martin and Marini, is heading towards a 2023 as an absolute protagonist, after having won everything that there was to win in a triumphal 2022.

“We are doing exactly the testing plan we had scheduled at home. Some things went good, something else not, but that's what happens every year here in Sepang" commented the team manager, Davide Tardozzi, on the official MotoGP website.

Both the official team and the satellite teams achieved good results on the Malaysian track, where they demonstrated the qualities of the new project and the old Desmosedici GP 2022.

“We are quite happy about the overall performance of the Ducati riders. We'll see what is going to be the overall decision tonight, I think the new bike will only be decided in Portimao, so we'll have to wait until then - commented the 64-year-old - We worked on the 2023 bike for one and a half day, then stepped back to the 2022 to see the differences and the comments respect to a bike they know very well and which has shown to still be a good bike, with Marini, Bezzecchi and the Gresini team riders".

Despite the good signs, the Bologna-based manufacturer will not sit idly by while waiting for the final test at Portimao, where it will have to try to meet the needs of its riders, correcting the weakness they encountered on the prototype for next season.

“Pecco tell us that there are some good points on the 2023, but still mainly one weak point compared to the 2022, which we still have to work on - explained the manager - He gave us a small time in Portimao, he wanted it to be fixed and we must respect the request of the World Champion. Enea said exactly the same comments. It's something that doesn't make him feel comfortable on his riding style, but we'll talk about it again in Portimao ”.
