MotoGP: Ezpeleta threatens Portimao:

After numerous complaints from MotoGP riders about work done in the escape routes that did not solve the problem of gravel not slowing down in the event of a crash, Carmelo Ezpeleta called on Portimao to get its act together before the Superbike race, scheduled for Oct. 1.

"Either changes are made to the gravel escape routes, or there will be no Grand Prix of Portugal 2024," he said.

To be particularly vocal, among many, were Francesco Bagnaia, who had been pointing this out since testing, and Aleix Espargaro, who saw his brother Pol involved in a serious accident.

The eventual exclusion of Portimao from the 2024 calendar would be a serious event, taking into account that the Portuguese circuit is strongly pushed by the current FIM President, Jorge Viegas, and that this year solved the problem of the opening of the world championship given the unavailability of Losail, which is undergoing renovations to host F1.
