SBK, Petrucci: “Returning to the V4 from the GP23 was easier than I thought”

“The MotoGP is stiff, and you have to ride it aggressively by breaking away hard. Here, in Misano, I found my confidence, but I still don’t know if I’ll be podium material.”

SBK: Petrucci: “Returning to the V4 from the GP23 was easier than I thought”

Danilo Petrucci is undoubtedly one of the most pleasant surprises of this Friday in Misano. The Barni rider took second place on his last available attempt, placing himself behind Alvaro Bautista.

A result that’s an injection of confidence for the rider from Terni, although he prefers to keep his feet firmly anchored to the ground.

Let’s say I’m quite satisfied with this Friday,” he began. “I found a good set-up even if I’m still struggling in acceleration with the bike. In the Mugello tests, however, I figured out that the soft tire could have guaranteed longer durability and, in the end, it turned out to be a useful thing. Today I also tried the simulation for the sprint race, making the best time on lap seven.”

As we know, Danilo arrived at the Misano stage after his return to thr MotoGP at Le Mans.
I have to say that getting back on the Ducati V4 from the GP23 was easier than I thought. The MotoGP is stiff and must be ridden aggressively compared to a Superbike. I’m excited to get off on the right foot.

Many dream of seeing Petrux in the scuffle for the podium, but he takes a step back.
There are several things to consider for tomorrow. The podium would be a dream, but it won’t be easy. Personally, I think the top five is a very good result, considering that we’ll see several other riders on Saturday much faster than today.

Danilo was then asked what he thought about the new swingarm.
Honestly, I thought I could go a step further during the tests. At Mugello, however, I was able to improve in braking, and now I think I have more margin, riding the way I want. Of course, there’s also Bautista who’s doing a different kind of sport here in Misano.”

His last comment was about the tires.
I don’t know what kind of tire the other riders used today. I think I struggle with the new tire to exploit it as I would particularly like in acceleration and traction. I reached the time with the SCQ. I think the SCX might be the right choice for the race.
