MotoGP, Fast By Prosecco Mugello, Pernat: “Welcome back Mugello, we were worried”

The Italian Grand Prix ended with Pecco Bagnaia’s supremacy, which began in qualifying, continued in the Sprint Race, and ended under the GP’s checkered flag. Our Carletto Pernat talks about everything that happened, while enjoying a glass of Prosecco Doc and also breathing a sigh of relief because the stands were finally full of spectators again. The golden years are still far away, but there has at least been a trend reversal compared to what happened in 2022.

Welcome back Mugello is the title of this video, I’d say. We went back to the days of the old Mugello, with so many people in the stands. We breathed a sigh of relief, because we were really worried last year. I’d say the race was the usual, because Ducati’s superpower is impressive. KTM, Yamaha, Aprilia, and Honda suffer too much.

Bagnaia is now one with the bike. He rides really well. He’s tough, and he deserved this victory. I’d say that, for the world championship, it’s difficult to imagine someone who can beat him. A nice podium for the Pramac guys. Let’s not forget that. They put Martín and Zarco on the podium, and they deserved it. Campinoti has a strong team. Ducati develops the bike a lot with Zarco, who’s an excellent tester, and he’s very important for Dall’Igna

Great race for Bastianini who almost seemed unable to race here. His shoulder really hurt. He couldn't train normally, but he at least brought home a positive ninth place. We'll see him in shape again I think in England. This is also thanks to Bagnaia, who ended up alone without being able to develop the bike and took charge of everything he could.

A bad disappointment for everyone else. I expected something more from Aprilia, but now that's something we’ve been saying for a long time. In my opinion, he doesn’t have a rider to win. He has four riders with a contract for two years, and I think that was a mistake, because you always have to leave an empty seat.

Yamaha is in a crisis, despite Marmorini. On the straight, he gets too many kilometers per hour from the others. Seeing Quartararo like that isn’t nice. Honda could be even worse. Only Nakagami reached the finish line. A real shutout for HRC. Marc Marquez is going beyond what he can do, and he knows it too. He has to make a choice. Either he decides to develop the bike without making mistakes – arriving perhaps in the first six or seven at each race – or, if he wants to go further, he makes a mistake and falls, as he’s demonstrated since his return. Due to a fracture, Mir decided not to race, because he’s afraid of falling again. Rins will lose at least two months. So, I’d say the Honda situation is even worse than we thought.

A great Italian day at Mugello, even with Arbolino. Although he started tenth, he always gets on the podium. He can win this title, and Tony could be an arrow in the quiver for Italian riders also next season.
