In the company of a customary glass of Prosecco DOC, Carlo Pernat analyzes the GP of the Americas just concluded in Austin. A GP that saw the triumph of an amazing Maverick Vinales, who was able to recover from a bad start by dictating an incredible pace. The Spaniard thus brings up Aprilia, which with its bike can now call itself a full rival of Ducati on the circuits. A success that also gives Maverick another record reserved for few riders in history, that of having won with three different manufacturers.
It was also a heart-stopping race with a resounding Acosta who put on a show, dueling at the front of the race with a renewed Marc Marquez who could have aspired to victory or at least a podium finish were it not for the crash at turn 11 that decreed his retirement from the race. An excellent performance also by Bastianini, who finished third on the podium after a comeback that delivered Ducati its best result in the race. Below expectations perhaps the performances of Martin, still the leader of the standings, and Bagnaia. Then the difficulties continue for Yamaha, which is investing a lot to become competitive again, and Honda, which instead still seems lost.

"It was the GP of the two A's: Aprilia and Austin, a nice pair. A whole weekend in which Aprilia dominated, both from a technical and rider point of view. Vinales looks like a completely different rider, now he is consistent and regrets the missed result in Portimao, where he lost points. I think Aprilia right now has a bike that can compete with Ducati, partly because of such a dominant Vinales. He dominated the whole weekend and had an amazing race, with an incredible pace. He recovered from a bad start from 11th place and climbed to the top of the standings. With a better start he could have won by a gap of 4 seconds. It was the best moment of this GP. Also a great podium for Bastianini, who finished third and is now second in the championship. Bagnaia on the other hand rode an opaque race, maybe there are some problems, but he will definitely solve them. Martin also had some problems, he lost the drive to win, maybe the Ducatis suffer from grip on this track. Along with Vinales, Acosta finished second, both riders raced with the medium rear tire, an unusual choice."
" Apparently it was the right choice, as I was also told by Michelin itself. Right now, with the current electronics, the right tire will make a big difference at the end of the race. Acosta has been incredible, he will definitely win titles. He jokes with his face while riding very fast, taking some risks and sometimes risking even more. Marquez also gave us a good show, he should always be there but his crash was strange, almost a rookie mistake. Evidently he has ridden a Honda for many years and is still adjusting to the new Ducati bike. As for Honda, it is a disaster. In my 40-year career I have never witnessed anything like this, they have a lot of crashes, they went backwards. Marini's choice was right in terms of contracts, with an official bike, but he is also risking a lot mentally. Yamaha is struggling, but we will have to wait for the development that will come soon, between Marmorini's engine and Ducati's aerodynamics. Bartolini, also a key man at Ducati, will bring something new. I believe that in the second half of the season Yamaha will also improve through concessions. Honda, on the other hand, needs to completely change its current working process to become competitive again. Overall, congratulations to Aprilia for an extraordinary Sunday in its favor."
