MotoGP, Honda offers Zarco a seat in LCR, Morbidelli approaches Gresini

HRC is thinking about the Frenchman to replace Rins; if he accepts, there would also be a chance for Arbolino to get into MotoGP on a Ducati

MotoGP: Honda offers Zarco a seat in LCR, Morbidelli approaches Gresini

The MotoGP rider market for next year is an interlocking game, with few vacancies still to be filled. Honda has made the latest move, offering Johann Zarco the seat left by Alex Rins in the LCR team (as Carlo Pernat told us in the last TGPOne). The Frenchman has the right profile to fill that void and could be very useful to the cause thanks to his experience and his skills as a test ride (appreciated by Dall'Igna).

After all, in Ducati, competition from young riders is strong and the man from Cannes could even decide to leave Borgo Panigale for the Japanese manufacturer. Also because it seems that the offer he has received is very attractive and there would be a two-year contract on the plate.

Already in 2019 there was an approach between Honda and Zarco when the latter, after the divorce with KTM, raced the last 3 GPs of the year with Cecchinello's team as replacement for Nakagami. That experience, however, did not materialize in an offer and Johann found a place in Ducati.

He now has a real chance to wear the Honda colours and if he decides to leave the Pramac team, a chain effect could be sparked off. Of course, the other tiebreaker is Bezzecchi, whose decisions would affect Morbidelli's future.

If Marco were to remain in the VR46 team (it remains to be seen with what treatment, whether or not he will have an official bike) at that point the Gresini team could open its doors to Franco Morbidelli. In this case, a free Ducati would remain in Pramac and Paolo Campinoti might think of putting in Tony Arbolino, a young (and Italian) rider to grow.

If instead Bezzecchi moves to Pramac, then Franco Morbidelli's destination would be VR46, with Arbolino who might arrive from Gresini.

These, in a nutshell, are the two possible scenarios at the moment. Nothing has been decided yet, but in the next few weeks, before the Austrian GP, Zarco could make his decision.
