MotoGP: Bagnaia: “There are no more difficult tracks, Buriram is always fast”

The MotoGP leaves Australia and arrives in Thailand, with Pecco Bagnaia and points that were, in some ways, unexpected. The first Asian triplet involved a very fast Martin, but the Spanish rider made the wrong choice of tires at Phillip Island and fell. The Italian took the opportunity to widen the gap in the standings, with 27 points ahead of Jorge.

The games aren’t over yet, with 4 Grand Prixs left, but Bagnaia pointed out on Sunday that the worst is behind them. Buriram is a different track from the previous ones, where he believes and hopes to be more competitive. The chronometer will tell the trutth, naturally paying attention to the weather, which is as always very variable.

“I’m happy to be back in Thailand, where the warmth and passion of the public are always incredible,” Pecco said. “After Japan, Indonesia, and Australia, tracks where we had also struggled last year, now it’s good to be able to race on circuits where we’ve always been fast. Last year, we faced the race in difficult conditions with rain, and I had been competitive, finishing third on the podium. Even this year, the weather will be uncertain, but I’m confident that I can do well in any condition. I can’t wait to hit the track at Buriram.

Enea Bastianini will also be there. After his injuries, he’s making progress on a GP23 that was difficult for him, and his goal is to keep progressing.

“I’m happy to return to racing in Thailand. This will be my second time on the Chang International Circuit with MotoGP,” the native from Rimini said.  “Unlike 2022, I hope the weather conditions are better. Last year, the race was very difficult due to heavy rain, but I had still managed to get a good sixth place. This year's goal will be to try to be fast right away and get a good position in qualifying. In Australia, I struggled a bit in the first laps of the race while, in the second half, I was faster. Together with my team, we’ll work to get ready for both the Sprint Race and the GP on Sunday.”
