MotoGP, Now it's official: Fabio Di Giannantonio with VR46 team and Ducati in 2024

As announced, Fabio Di Giannantonio will take Luca Marini’s place in the Mooney VR46 Racing Team for the 2024 season. The rider from Rome, class of ‘98, will share the garage with Marco Bezzecchi, riding the Ducati Desmosedici GP.  In the small circle of winners of the MotoGP race after the Qatari Grand Prix, Fabio will wear the neon yellow of the Tavullia team for his third season in the top class. For Valentino Rossi’s team, the arrival of Diggia is a novelty because never before has he had a rider who wasn’t part of the Riders Academy.

For Di Giannantonio, the first appointment with the new team is scheduled for tomorrow when he takes to the track for the first day of testing for 2024.

I’m happy to join a team as strong as the Mooney VR46 Racing Team. I can learn a lot, and I can’t wait to start working together on this project. We can really do some good things,” Di Giannantonio stated. “In the last two seasons in the MotoGP, I’ve progressed a lot and, in this team, I’ll definitely be able to mature again and achieve great results. I’m psyched. I can’t wait to meet all my new staff and start working on the track. Thanks to everyone who made this possible.”

Team Director Alessio Salucci added: “I’m really happy to announce that Fabio will join our team. It was an unexpected arrival, at the last minute, but I’m satisfied that we chose him. He had a great end to the season. He didn’t lose heart when things weren’t going the right way, and I’m sure he’ll be able to feel at home here. On a motorsport level, he’s proven to be among the fastest young Italians. He’ll continue to work with Ducati, and the goal is to help him not only be competitive, but also consistent in his results. It’s an ambitious project. It marks a turning point in the history of our team, but I’m sure we’ll all do our best to go in the same direction.”
