MotoGP, After the cancellation of Argentina, Kazakhstan and India are also in doubt

For MotoGP, 2024 was supposed to be the longest season ever, with 22 Grands Prix and 44 races (counting the Sprints). Good intentions, however, have already clashed with harsh reality even before the start of the championship: the Argentine GP at Termas de Rio Hondo has been cancelled, due to the cost cuts imposed by the Milei Government, and will not be replaced.

The South American race, however, may not be the only defection this year, because there are two other events that are on shaky ground. The first is the one in Kazakhstan, scheduled for mid-June. The GP was already cancelled last year because the circuit was not finished and since then there has been no further news on the state of the work, which leaves some doubt as to whether everything will be ready in just over two months.

The second Grand Prix shrouded in uncertainty is that of India, which debuted last year on the calendar. Albeit with some difficulties, the event took place regularly, but the latest rumours in the paddock are not so certain of a reconfirmation. Thus, the first GP on the Buddh Circuit might also have been the last (at least for the moment).

In the worst case scenario, therefore, the calendar could be reduced to 19 GPs, unless a reserve race is included. The Balaton Park Circuit is in fact scheduled as a replacement track, but is still awaiting FIM approval.
