The racing world is still mourning the recent death of the Australian rider who passed away on January 17th. The Philip Island circuit has four of his bikes on display, and Iannone remembers him on his helmet.

SBK: The Phillip Island circuit pays tribute to Anthony Gobert with his bikes

The sadness among fans related to the loss of Anthony Gobert, “The Go-Show”, is still palpable. We had recently collected a personal memory of it in this article.

The Australian circuit, in particular, has seen some of his brightest performances, including a wildcard win in 1994, and another win in 1996. This is why the organizers decided to pay tribute to him during the first WSBK event, by displaying some of the bikes on which the young Australian rider experienced his racing career.

Thanks to the skillful work of motorcycle racing veteran Mark Bracks, and the goodwill of owners Davo Johnson, Peter Howes, and Allan Morrison, four Gobert's racing bikes are on display at the WorldSBK Expo along the Gardner Straight. The four bikes are a Yamaha YZF-R6 he raced with at Daytona, his 1996 Kawasaki ZX-7RR WorldSBK, a Honda CBR1000RR he made #ASBK cameos with in 2006, and the Honda RC30 he participated with in the 1993 ASBK championship.

There will also be a tribute video for “The Go-Show” projected throughout the weekend on the big screens and during the Paddock Show.
